Linden Notices - August 31, 2016

OFFICE HOURS – The village office will be closed on Monday, September 5th, 2016 for Labour Day.

THANK YOU!! – On behalf of the Village of Linden, Mayor Vanessa Van der Meer would like to thank all the summer students for their hard work this year. Clayton Michelson, Breanna Jeninga and Chelsea Bushey thank you very much.

CONSTRUCTION ON CENTRAL AVENUE WEST has begun – We are replacing sewer and water lines as well as resurfacing the street. They will be working on the west side of the village from the entrance of town to 5th Street NW. Please note that there are no right turns allowed from 5th Street NW onto Central Avenue and no access from 6th onto Central Avenue at all, you may be ticketed. Entering private property to avoid the construction is not allowed.

YARD MAINTENANCE – It is that time of year when things seem to growing rather quickly. Just a reminder that all yards need to be kept tidy and weeds need to removed. Shrubs and trees need to be kept trimmed and may not interfere with the use of public sidewalks. Please ensure that any garbage that is not removed by public works is taken to the proper transfer station. There is a list available at the village office or on the website (in the INFO & FORMS section) of what Linden and Torrington will take. Help keep Linden a beautiful village to live in.

COUNCIL MEETINGS – Regular Council Meetings are held the second and fourth Monday of the month at 7:00 PM at the Village office. Public welcome.

TOOLS FOR SCHOOL – Unfortunately, the price of school supplies can be a dreaded thought when faced with expenses that strain an already tight budget. In an effort to make the expenses of getting ready for school more bearable, the Tools for School program will be in operation once again throughout the Kneehill area.

If your family has a lower income, please contact our office at 403-443-3800 to learn more about accessing the program. Tools for School cash/cheque donations are always welcome to help us operate the program. You can drop off your donation at the village office. Please make all cheques payable to Kneehill County – FCSS Tools for School or you can call 403-443-3800. Donations made in the Kneehill area stay in the Kneehill area!

SCHOOL IS BACK IN! – Please be aware that the children will be walking to and from school and the busses will be back on the highways. Let’s keep our children safe, drive carefully!!
