Lorena Mae Bartel Boese was born to Ben and Agnes (Penner) Bartel on August 19, 1930 at Greenland, Manitoba. She passed to her eternal rest in the morning on January 23, 2013; reaching the age of 82 years. Mom enjoyed a happy childhood with her parents and siblings in the Greenland area. Mom was the second of ten children so her capable help will have been much appreciated. She told us many stories about how she kept her brothers in line. Mom gave her heart to the Lord and was baptized at a tender age, she enjoyed her walk with Jesus; showing love to those around her. She loved singing. Mom was a very upbeat positive person and knew how to chase our childhood fears away. She always loved her gardening and flowers. In her late teens she went to work at the Boese Canneries in Saint Catharines, Ontario—coming home all enthused about activities such as riding the Maid of the Mist at Niagara Falls and good times with other young friends. On June 5, 1953 she was joined in marriage to our father Levi Boese. Dad is left with many good memories from their nearly 60 years together. God blessed their home with two sons and one daughter; she loved each unconditionally. Mom enjoyed all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Although she lived in Alberta for most of her adult life she remained fiercely loyal to Manitoba. Left to treasure her memories are: Loving husband Levi, sons Delton & Reta (Linden, AB), Barry & Maxine (Linden, AB), daughter Bonnie Lou (Neilburg, SK), 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 6 brothers, 2 sisters and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, parents-in-law, 1 brother, 4 sisters-in-law and 1 brother-in-law.
