Trochu News February 27, 2013

Valentine's Day at St. Mary's Health Care Centre was indeed a special day for all the residents. The recreation therapists and volunteer coordinator team took residents that still had their sweetheart spouses to the 3rd floor for a special Valentine's lunch. This is just one example of special events that the recreation therapists and volunteer coordinator at St.  Mary's does throughout the year. Hats off to these special people and the planning, organizing and work involved. We are very fortunate to have such great caregivers in our community. Four members, Maureen Nelson, Margie Frere, Lorene Adolf and Leona Lynn from St. Mary's Health Care Auxiliary, gave each resident of the Lodge and second floor a beautiful decorated heart made by Pat Holowath and a personalized Valentine with candy kisses supplied by St. Mary's Health Care Auxiliary. The residents thoroughly enjoyed this special attention they received on a very special day. Valentines Day afternoon Kelly McRae volunteer coordinator serves strawberry shortcake to the Lodge residents with tea, coffee or juice. A sweetheart day was enjoyed by everyone.
St. Mary's Health Care Centre Auxiliary met Tuesday, February 19 for their regular monthly meeting. Fourteen ladies were present. A note of appreciation was received for the new puzzles that had been delivered for the Lodge. Lorene Adolf reported five residents will celebrate birthdays during February. Jan and Donna continue to provide those special breakfasts to the residents on the second floor. Meals on Wheels for February will be delivered by Auxiliary members. Treasurer Leona Lynn provided the audited 2012 financial statement to the meeting. Plans for our Spring Tea were put into motion and details will be available soon. A motion was carried to change the admission charge for the tea to $5.00. A motion to purchase an additional table that would be available for use at the Lodge was passed.
