Council approves Community Centre recommendations

Mayor Tim Shearlaw called Three Hills Town Council’s first regular meeting of 2015 to order Monday, January 12 at 5:32 p.m.
Under old business, Council approved the recommendations presented by the Three Hills Community Memorial Centre Society concerning a drainage project required in the basement of the facility. The Society will proceed with plans to retain the services of the Town’s Engineers to assess the scope of the project. This project will be covered by Casino funds raised by the Society.
Moving onto new business, Council moved to support and provide Seniors Outreach with a letter of support to co-host the Provincial Launch of Senior’s Week. Senior’s Week is always held on the first week in June. Being chosen as the host community for the launch would see an official ceremony held here featuring the Alberta Seniors Minister, our Member of Parliament and the Olds/Didsbury/Three Hills MLA. Seniors Outreach should hear in March.
Council approved a motion to renew their membership with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) for the 2015-16 term.
This year’s FCM Conference and Trade Show is being held in Edmonton on June 5-8. Council approved all expenses and per diems for Deputy Mayor David Nadeau, Councillors Terry Ann Diack and Ron Howe and CAO Lori Conkin to attend.
The Town of Three Hills will, once again, support the Three  Hills Cruise Weekend Committee and provide assistance as required to ensure the success of the Cruise Weekend event to be held June 5-7, 2015. This year drag racing has been extended to Saturday and Sunday.
Following a short in-camera session, Council adjourned at 6:18 p.m.
