The Evelyn Kenny Kennel & Obedience Club hosted a Dog Show at the Trochu Lions Campgrounds July 12-15.

The Calgary based club hosts an annual dog show each year. The group decided to change their location and picked Kneehill County for their new destination.

Kim Zippel, the Dog Show’s show chair person, said that the town has been welcoming, helpful and overall great with having the outdoor dog show in Trochu.

“This will be our first year of hopefully many in Trochu,” said Zippel.

This dog show welcomes all breeds and has around 480 dogs competing each day in conformation, obedience, and rally events. Within those events, there are seven different categories for the dogs, sporting dogs, working dogs, herding, terriers, toys, non-sporting dogs, and hounds, having awards for four places in each group.

At the end of each day, the dogs compete for Best of Show, which is the first-place dog overall that day.

This Best of Show reward was given out to a pug on Thursday, a boxer on Friday, a boxer on Saturday, and a boxer on Sunday.

The prizes that were possible to win are prize money, Canadian Dog Fancier gift certificates, and ribbons.
