Linden Pharmacy and Travel Clinic opening soon

Linden Pharmacy

Linden Pharmacy and Travel Clinic is coming soon to Linden, to be located at 113 Central Avenue East, right next to the Village Office. Zankhana Patel, currently working at a Pharmacy in Calgary will be Linden’s pharmacist.

Zankhana got her bachelor’s of pharmacy degree in India, coming to Canada for a better opportunity. She challenged the exams in Canada to become a registered pharmacist and got her license to practice. She has one year experience in patient care where she mostly focused on checking prescriptions, providing consultations, diabetic care, travel consultations and providing vaccinations. Her greater interest is in diabetic care and geriatric health. Zankhana would be managing the pharmacy. For at least the first couple of months, she would be driving in from Calgary. If need be she will move to Linden.

In a lease agreement, Ravi Chaudhary took possession of the building on July 15, slowly doing renovations on weekends. He is scheduled to meet with Linden Council at the regular council meeting on August 13, to supply updates. “Currently we are doing the required renovations and waiting on the plumbing and electrical permits. All other permits have been taken care of. We have the consultation room almost ready and have to set up cabinets, sink and paint in order to be ready to open.”

The pharmacy will be located in the front portion of the building where Linview and Alberta Proud Real Estate work out of. The real estate company will continue to operate out of the back of the building, accessing a rear entrance.

“It is our expectation to open by August 27, 2018,” advised Ravi. “The first couple of months we are planning to keep it open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and closed Saturday and Sunday. Later, depending on local needs, we would consider keeping it open on Saturday as well. In addition to prescriptions, the pharmacy would provide different kinds of services such as travel consultations, vaccinations, smoking cessation program, flu shots, strep throat testing, prescribing for minor ailments, medication reviews and assistance in chronic diseases management such as diabetic education.”

“We own one pharmacy in Calgary, called Centre Street Pharmacy for its location on Centre Street and have been providing these same services there. Zankhana has an extensive amount of knowledge in managing chronic conditions and providing travel consultations. She always wants to go the extra mile for her patients and is looking forward to bringing positive change to the health of the community through her contributions. We are working hard so that we can open the pharmacy at the end of August but in case we face some problems, it can extend up to mid-September.”

Ravi and his sister, Zankhana came to Linden a few short months ago to see if they could build a pharmacy in Linden. “People in the community have to drive to Three Hills or Beiseker to get their medical needs, which I think would be really frustrating. We thought bringing a pharmacy into town would definitely help the community with their healthcare needs.” Ravi received local help with the whole process. “We truly believe that we will bring positive health outcomes to the community. We look forward to serving Linden and surrounding towns.”
