Kathryn Frances Anne “Fran” Oleniuk (nee: Hoppins) - May 20, 1951 - May 16, 2018~Fran passed away peacefully on May 16, 2018 at the Foothills Country Hospice after a courageous fight against cancer. Born May 20, 1951 at the Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and June Hoppins. Surviving are her husband, Bob; son, Michael; granddaughter, Taylor; siblings, Ken (Genevieve) Hoppins, Maureen (Raymond) Frere, Lynne Pitt-Kyba (Paul), Bill (Norma) Hoppins, Colleen (Vincent Conner) Hoppins, brother-in-law Dennis Oleniuk (predeceased Lorianne) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other special friends. Fran loved her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with them whether it was in the city or at the family farm. She had a special fondness for all animals, especially horses. Her interests included architectural design/drawings, sewing, horseback riding and do-it-yourself projects. Fran had a special love, passion and skill for the game of golf, including three holes in one at the Priddis Greens Golf and Country Club. Fran had a successful long serving professional career with the Calgary Catholic School Board and Diocese. Fran and her family wish to thank Dr. Chu and Pam Sweeney, staff at the Foothills Hospital, staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and staff at the Foothills Country Hospice for the loving and professional care they provided. The funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Red Deer Lake United Church, 96187 Hwy 22X W; Foothills, AB which is located seven kilometers west of MacLeod Trail and Reverend Nicholas Coates and Deacon Doug Lynch officiating. Fran’s cremated remains will be interred alongside her beloved parents, Wilfred and June Hoppins, in the family plot in the Trochu Cemetery, Trochu, AB at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Foothills Country Hospice (www.countryhospice.org) or a charity of your choice.
