Local swimmer still making a splash

Trochu native Shane Issler has kept up his sport since his days with the Three Hills Neons, competing now in Masters swimming competitions.

Issler swam with the Three Hills Neons Swim Club for four years before he moved on to swim with the Olds Rapids for one year and one session, then swam with the Canadian Badlands Aquatic Club out of Drumheller from September 2017 to July 2018.

Since November 2018 he has been an unattached Masters swimmer in Calgary where he is attending Mount Royal Universi

Trochu Lions members Gerry Tetz and Brad Innes present the coveted Trochu Lions Annual Draft Hockey Trophy to the “Wranglers”. The Lions hosted 68 players on six teams for the tournament on March 23-24. The Lions would like to that all those who participated in and contributed to this event.

Lady Pilots bring home Provincial Gold

The Lady Pilots basketball team was at the PAC basketball Championships held at Millar College in SK March 28-29. Having won gold last year they were ready to go back to back and they got off to a great start Thursday afternoon pounding Burman 79-27 with Sarah Harken scoring 24 and Rebecca Allen 20. The win put them into the Gold Medal Game against host Millar Edge. The score was close after one quarter with the Pilots leading 14-13 but they took over the game in the last 3 quarters and cruised

Prairie Pilots celebrate graduating athletes with “Flight Night”

The Briercrest Clippers came to town on the weekend to compete against the Prairie Pilots Women’s Basketball team.

Friday evening’s “Flight Night” drew a large crowd in support of the Pilots, as they celebrated all graduating athletes who donned the Pilots jersey this season. A total of 25 graduating athletes were recognized. Three of the women on Prairie’s basketball team received the award, as team co-captain Nicole Bublitz is graduating with a Diploma in Sports
