Tier 4 U16 Provincial Soccer Tournament coming to Three Hills

Three Hills U16 Strikers

Three Hills will host the Tier 4 U16 Provincial Soccer Tournament for the second year in a row. The Alberta Soccer Association was happy with how the event was run last year and more than willing to allow Three Hills to host the event again. Organizers will focus on improving and fine tuning the tournament for this year.
Our own U16 team, the Three Hills Strikers, have had their work cut out for them this season, battling contenders such as Linden and Cremona. They have also been battling injuries, as more than one player has missed games due to pulled muscles, etc. The team will compete in a tournament in Millet, AB the weekend of June 12-13, and then play District finals in June 19.  The players welcomed back Alberta Summer Games and U16 Provincials veteran Mark Ibbotson on June 2.  Mark had been out most of the season due to injuries, and scored two goals in only 15 minutes of play during his first game. Other leading players from last years provincials are Jordan Gramlich, who helps Mark on mid-field, super defensemen Mike Friesen and Paul Kim, and speedster Dan Kim. Also back to join the team is Andrew Sherwood, who along with Dan Kim, was called up from U14 last year to play in the U16 Provincials.  Both last years players and the new players for this year are  excited about the tournament and continue to train under the coaching of Billy Coles.
The tournament promises to be a great time again this year and will run the weekend of July 9-11.  Things kick off with opening ceremonies on Friday night, along with the first set of games. Games continue Saturday, and the day will finish off with  the Subway Soccer Skills Competition, followed by fireworks at dusk.  Sunday will see the Gold Medal game. Three Hills games will feature Kick to Win competitions against our mascot, Striker the Wolf.  Come out and encourage your team as they strive to win....the more Three Hills fans out cheering them on the better!
