The Three Hills Thrashers wrapped up their 2017-18 season with a pair of losses over the weekend, bringing a disappointing and frustrating season to an end.

Last Wednesday night they hosted the Stettler Lightning. Former Thrashers Dylan Houston scored a short-handed goal in the first period to give the visitors the lead. His second goal of the night early in the second period was followed by a late powerplay goal to make it 3-0 after forty minutes. After the Lightning struck three more times in the third period, Kevin Schrock’s sixth goal of the season broke the shutout in the final minute of play. Stettler added another goal to make the final score 7-1. Klay Munro made 76 saves, many of the spectacular variety in the Thrashers goals. On Friday night, they battled hard against the Red Deer Vipers. Although outshot badly again in the first period (28-3), the Vipers only managed to strike in the closing minutes of the first period to take a 1-0 lead. However, they added three goals in the second and after a scoreless third period, skated away with a 4-0 victory. Along with Munro making many superb saves again in the Thrashers net, Three Hills was unable to score on the few legitimate scoring chances they had. Saturday night, the team travelled to Didsbury to battle the Colts. After MountainView scored five goals in the opening stanza, they just kept coming, winning by a final score of 11-0. Munro and Alex Jones shared time in the Thrashers goal.

The 2017-18 Thrashers will conclude their season this Saturday night (February 17) at 8:00 pm as they play Thrashers Alumni. The Thrashers want to thank all fans for their support over this difficult season and hope to see you all again next year for more Junior B Hockey action.
