Lady Pilots tip off PAC season

Pilots Ladies Briercrest

The Prairie Lady Pilots began the defense of their PAC crown Friday night at the RDAC with a convincing 74-30 win over Briercrest Clippers JY team. They led 59-23 at half time and never looked back using tough offense and defense, along with slick distribution of the ball in the offensive zone to keep Briercrest off balance. First year player Sarah Harken from Riceville, Iowa was on fire right from the tip, pouring in 37 points along with playing tough on the offensive and defensive boards.

Saturday morning was a different game as the Clippers played strong defense under their basket limiting the Pilots to outside shots and at half time it was only 22-14 for the Pilots. In the third quarter, 3rd year player Sierra Nelson got hot from outside the three point line and the Pilots finished strong with a 55-31 victory. Sierra Nelson was named player of the game, pouring in 20 points, and told Prairie Radio that “we did have trouble getting into it but once we got our energy things began to fall into place.”

Head Coach Pam Fraser said “Briercrest adjusted super well which was kind of a shock so it took us a while to recreate.” Pam is assisted this year by Kerstin Deleeuw and the captains are Nicole Bublitz and Sierra Nelson.

Next action for the Pilots is this weekend.
