Ghost Pine News - July 27, 2016

What an on-again, off-again summer we are having. We don’t know whether to wear a sun hat or rubber boots.
Congratulations from the community go out to Kevin and Dana Parker, who were married on July 9. We wish them happiness in the years to come.
The Watson and Grace Reed family held their annual Crazy Days Weekend last week at the home of Bryan and Eileen McComish (a farm near Erskine). There were 65 in attendance. The theme was the Olympics and each of the 32 participants went to the podium to receive their medals. A great time was had by everyone, and can you believe, it did not rain.
Doug and Gayle Parker were happy to have their grandchildren, Dylan and Abbey Lemke visit them from Calgary last week.
Our military whist people played on July 14. Those who reached for the stars and caught one were John Tullikopf, Inaka Bolt and Sandra Meding. I’m told the dummy was pretty agile, too! Those who stayed close to earth were Joan Tullikopf, Glen Johnson, Bernice Huxley and Frank Richardson.
On July 21, they played again. Those who qualified for the Olympics were Jim Sailer, Bonnie Richardson, Joan Tullikopf and Marie Olmstead. Those who have to wait for another year were Mic King, Frank Richardson, Doreen Varga and Bernice Huxley.
Karin and Ed Nakaska enjoyed having friends from Edmonton visit for a few days last week. Sandra Maclaren came as well as her daughter, Kelsey Deidimun and children Andrew and Charlotte, who really enjoyed being on the farm.
Joe and June Kanderka have just returned from about two weeks of vacationing. They spent the first week at Radium Hot Springs where they encountered a great deal of rain. The next week they spent visiting relatives in Crows Nest Pass. Their final stop was at the Enchant Campground where a Kanderka family reunion was held.
Gayle Parker and Grace Reed motored to Stettler on Sunday and visited Shirley McKibbon. She is a resident of Heart Haven Lodge and asked us to say hello to all of her Three Hills friends.
Eleanor Stewart joined her daughter Faye Urano of Taber and her sister, Lorraine Patterson of Athabaska, for a trip into BC. They went to Surrey and visited Les and Pat Reed and then to Langley where they visited Hugh and Verla Reed. Les and Hugh are Eleanor’s brothers.
A beautiful outdoor wedding was held with 200 family members, friends and guests on Sat., July 23 at Andy and Irene Nakaska’s farm for their grandson Joel Dorn to Amy Brus, son of Laurie and John Dorn of Three Hills, and daughter of Ellen and John Brus of Stettler. Many guests camped over the weekend including 16 family members from Holland.
