Many seniors don't know that filing your income tax return every year, regardless of your income, is an important step in maintaining benefits such as the Alberta Seniors Benefit and the Guaranteed Income Supplement.  Failure to file your tax return may result in a delay in the benefits you receive.
If the thought of doing your taxes is overwhelming, there may be help.  If you are an individual with a low income and a basic tax return, the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program can complete your return for you.
Don't be afraid to ask for help – our community is here to support you.  Call Seniors Outreach at 403-443-2555 (1-888-443-2555 toll-free) if you have questions about the benefits you receive.  Contact Kneehill Regional FCSS at 403-443-3800 to learn more about the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program.
