Seniors Outreach - November 2, 2016

We have joked here at Seniors Outreach that if we had a dollar for every time we are asked when/where are we moving, we would have enough money to fund our program for years! We understand and appreciate the inquiries, our program has been operating for 21 years and our seniors and community members are invested and engaged in our program, for that we are very thankful!

I can now report, that the Three Hills Provincial Building has been identified by the Government of Alberta as “surplus” and will be actively marketed for public sale. There will be a for sale sign on the building in the coming weeks which will be very odd to see, as someone who has lived in this area for the majority of my life. Change is hard but I suppose it’s a sign of the times. We do not have a new location secured yet for Seniors Outreach but we are in the early stages of negotiation with the Town of Three Hills for a potential move to the “old medical clinic”. Unless a new owner of the provincial building is looking to continue renting space to outside organizations, we will be packing our bags. We will keep everyone updated as more details become available.

As many people are aware, we operate on a very tight budget here at Seniors Outreach and at times it can be difficult to spread the word about upcoming activities and events. We do produce a newsletter every quarter which outlines upcoming activities, please feel free to stop by the office to get one. For those of you that are computer savvy, we do have a Seniors Outreach Program Facebook page which we advertise events and activities that are occurring. We rely also on our Caring Callers to get the word out about upcoming events and we are always looking for volunteers that can help with that. It is something you can do from your own home, in your pajamas if you’d like, no one will know! Always feel free to call our office at 403-443-2555 for more information.
