Trochu News September 24, 2014

Trochu residents extend their sympathy on the death of Anne Leung Sept. 17. Nelson and Anne had the Peking Cafe from 1974-91 when they retired to Calgary. Sons Kin and James had their schooling at TroVal and are still very close with their schoolmates. The funeral will be held September 29 in Calgary. A nice history of the family can be found in Remember When: Book Two where Nelson writes, "Trochu played a big part in our lives. It brought an opportunity to build a strong foundation for our family. We found a roof for our family in a warm community where our children grew up."
Auxiliary update
St. Mary's Health Care Auxiliary met on Tuesday, Sept. 15 for their regular meeting after a summer break with nine members present. Minutes and correspondence were read and discussed. No members will be able to attend the Provincial meeting in Lethbridge, but three members will travel to Didsbury for the West Central Regional Meeting on Sept. 24. The ladies have been busy at St. Mary's over the summer months. Over ten birthday corsages were delivered to lodge and continuing car residents and the monthly breakfasts were prepared and served to continuing care patients. Many evenings were spent volunteering at St. Mary's Lodge helping when the residents had musical evenings or other entertainment.
On Oct. 3, when Trochu Valley School has their awards presentation, the Auxiliary will attend to give our their award to any graduates going into the field of nursing. We have decided to have our annual Harvest Tea on Wednesday, Nov. 5. We will work with the St. Mary's Pastoral Team to celebrate 150 years of Catholic Health Care in Alberta at this event.
The ladies then volunteered to help out at several evenings for lodge entertainment in September and October. A delicious lunch was provided and much visiting followed, closing the meeting with our ring of friendship. Please remember that new members are always welcome to join St. Mary's Auxiliary.
