Trochu and District Hall Development Society 300 club winners for April were Jim Adams, Brian Adolf, Terry Frere and Lorrie Guard.
Trochu Elks 200 Club winners for April were Gail Ashcroft, Lorne Wagstaff, Jim Deering and Cheryl Lumley.
Birthday celebrations and Bingo was enjoyed with many members and guests on Tuesday, May 12 at the Senior's Drop In. Jim Deering, assisted by Vi Thatcher, called the numbers of the games. Marj Haller was the lucky blackout winner. Donna Pride and Vi Thatcher, celebrating a May birthday, were present to have their picture taken. Coffee, cake and visiting concluded an enjoyable afternoon.
Two young men from Trochu recently received degrees from Briercrest College and Seminary in Saskatchewan. Matthew Powell, son of Alan and Faye Powell, received his Bachelor of Arts Christian Ministry with Minors in both Biblical Studies and Theology. Colin Kubinec, son of Kevin and Eleanor Kubinec, received his Masters of Arts Leadership and Management (with Honors). Colin also received the Graduate Excellence Award in Leadership and Management, awarded to a graduating seminary student "who exhibits exemplary character and competence in the discipline of leadership." Congratulations to both of you!
The regular meeting of Trochu Royal Purple Elks #71 was held on May 12, with 18 members present. Lodge was opened with a special prayer for Harriet Siltala, followed by Roll Call and reading of April minutes. Treasurer's reports were given, and correspondence read. New logo for Royal Purple Elks fund or children was passed around. An application for membership was received PHRL Fran Soloway passed away and a memorial service is planned for Sat., May 16. A barbecue will be held at the Kent Walker farm on June 1, and flowers will be distributed to the Lodge and Extended Care residents on June 3. Committees were named and Lodge closed. A lovely lunch was enjoyed.
