Trochu and District Hall Development Society 300 Club winners for August were Ray Frere, Anne-Marie Lemay, Thelma Enzie, Joanne Frere and Holly Frere.
Trochu Elks 200 Club winners for August were Simone Frere, Sharon Christie, Pat and Ken Hatt, Kay Issler and Leslie Schlereth.
Despite the gloomy weather on Tuesday, Sept. 8, seniors and guests attended the monthly Bingo and Birthday celebrations at the Drop-in Centre. Jim Deering, assisted by Ron Mossop, called the numbers for the ten bingo games. Martha Doerksen was the very happy winner of the blackout prize. Happy Birthday was sung and those present to have their picture taken were Bert Adrian, Elsie Garson, Arnold Gridley and Ruby Sailer. Everyone enjoyed birthday cake ad visiting.
On Saturday, Sept. 14, Elsie Garson treated family and friends to birthday cake and coffee at the Drop-in on the occasion of her 80th birthday. She was greeted with hugs and warm wishes from the many friends who came to help her celebrate.
Royal Purple Elks
The regular meeting of the Trochu Royal Purple Elks #71 was held Sept. 8 with 16 members and one guest present. Lodge was opened in short form followed by roll call. The minutes of the June meeting were read and accepted and both Treasurer's reports and bills presented. PHRL Irene Diack presented Gail Ashcroft with a cheque at the Trochu Flower Show. Community Birthday calendars have been ordered. Audrey Nelson reported on the box lunch project with funds raised to go towards Trochu and Three Hills Schools. Lodge closed and lunch was enjoyed by all. Next meeting is October 13, 2015.
