The past week has been a busy one starting with voting on Monday. On Tuesday, people turned out to get their flu shots. That evening, 14 members of St. Mary's Health Care Centre Auxiliary gathered for their monthly meeting. President Isobel Whyte brought the meeting to order and got right down to business. Did you notice the absence of the Trochu news column in the Oct. 14 issue of The Capital? Well, the writer was celebrating all week and just couldn't settle long enough to write. Now the party's over guests are gone and it's uncommonly quiet around the house.  My husband, Vern Cunningham and I (Agnes) celebrated our 60th Wedding Anniversary with an Open House at the Baptist Fellowship Centre on Oct. 9. I wonder if you folk who read my column feel the way I do? On a trip to the Post Office, I received yet another envelope containing address stickers and a note pad accompanied with a thank you for my donation. There's a cost involved in putting my name on these items and mailing them to me. Besides, I have enough on hand now to last me the rest of my life. Sending these little extras doesn't make me donate more. Please can't they just use the money to help the cause it was intended for?

Following a two-month summer break, a dozen members of St. Mary's Health Care Centre Auxiliary met on Sept. 21 to get back to business.
