June has been a busy month and the calendar for July is quickly filling in with scheduled events. The first Farmer's Market of the season will be held July 8 (see the classified ad or contact Arlene Denomme for details). The annual fundraising supper for the Arboretum is being organized for July 22.

Seventeen members of St. Mary's Health Care Centre Auxiliary met on June 15 at the Sweetgrass Cafe, located in the house at the Trochu Arboretum. Prior to a short meeting the ladies enjoyed a sumptuous lunch prepared by Suzanne Sinclair, proprietor of the cafe. As this column is being written, June 14, the wind is back in control with possible showers forecast for the afternoon. Hopefully, the almost perfect weekend weatherwise was not this year's summer. The Tolman Bridge Campground was packed and TL Bar Ranch busy with campers and trail rides. The Lobster Fest at the Trochu Hall was a sold out affair and the local golf course was host to the County tournament. Are the birds trying to tell us something? This past week, residents on Poplar Avenue have witnessed flocks of waxwings swooshing into their trees. They appear to spend the day, disappear at night and return the next day. We're used to them flocking in, staying a few minutes and rushing off to another spot. They're beautiful birds so we don't mind them lingering and sharing the bird bath with other birds. It gives us another reason to enjoy our backyards.
