Three Hills RCMP Respond To 213 Calls To Service In August

Three Hills RCMP responded to 213 Calls to Service in the month of August.

There were six 911 hang-ups, two abandoned vehicles, one abduction of a person under 14 - unfounded, four animal complaints (dogs) and 10 assaults - three charges.

There were two files on assisting the general public, six assisting Provincial agencies (Medicine Hat police, CN Police and EMS), one assisting United States police, one being unlawfully at large - unfounded, one being unlawfully in a dwelling house- unfounded

Local Fraud Prevention

Victoria Strelbisky observed a vulnerable victim who wanted to buy gift cards at the IGA for an unusual amount. Victoria recognized this to be a possible scam and spoke with the individual about these types of scams. Victoria was able to convince the individual to not purchase the gift cards.

RCMP Report Decreases In Crime Statistics

Crime statistics in the Three Hills RCMP detachment area show a definite decrease in numbers compared to one year ago.

A recent crime statistic summary, covering January to August, shows break and enters at a 19.1% decrease representing 21 fewer actual occurrences.

Theft of motor vehicles dropped by 48.5% with 16 fewer motor vehicle thefts.

Theft under $5,000 saw a 20.2% decrease or 24 fewer actual occurrences.

In the Criminal Code category total persons crimes are down 1.5% or three fewer crim
