Kneehill Minor Hockey introducing New Initiatives

Kneehill Minor Hockey Association is excited to offer two new initiatives for the 2020/2021 season in an effort to make hockey more convenient and affordable to people new to hockey. The cost to play for your first year in U7 (Tyke) has been reduced to only $150 for the season (for children born between 2014-2016). This equates to only $3 per practice/game. For the past four seasons U7 hockey has been operating through half-ice 4-on-4 hockey with a strong focus on development and learning the basics of the game. The key skill that players come away with from U7 is learning how to skate, and learning to be a part of a team. If you would like your child to learn how to skate and be a part of a team this would be a great fit for you. Coaches have seen players come out of their shell through the confidence gained from learning a new skill. Players do not need to know how to skate before joining minor hockey and after a couple weeks of practice they are cruising around the ice. Our U7 program consists of two practices a week and about three games a month with minimal travelling.

The second initiative is developing a used equipment program where people can donate their child’s outgrown equipment and this will be used to help equip new people to the game. This will also help families that are new to hockey and don’t know what equipment to purchase as it will be laid out for them. If you are interested in donating equipment, or getting some equipment please contact Brady Hogg. Brady can be reached at

While Hockey Alberta and Alberta Health Services continue to roll out Return to Play policies and guidelines, KMHA is anticipating and planning for a full return of the hockey season this year starting in September.

If you have further questions about these programs or registering for minor hockey please contact a board member. Contact information can be found at
