After a good competitive training camp, the Three Hills Thrashers hit the ice this week for a string of exhibition games.

Sabres tackle tough competition

 

After their first week of action in the Mountain View Football Conference 9-Man Football League, the Prairie Christian Academy Sabres are realizing how challenging it is to be an "expansion" team. After an opening game loss to Didsbury 59-13 last Tuesday, the Sabres were drubbed 80-14 by last year's league champion, the JC Charyk (Hanna) Hawks on Saturday afternoon.

On behalf of the Acme Royal Purple, Rhoda Hannah, Honored Royal Lady, presents a cheque for $1,000 to Darrell Morris of the Tae Kwon Do club of Beiseker. The donation is to help with fundraising efforts by those members who qualify to compete in Las Vegas at the World Martial Arts Games in mid September, 2010. Members competing include two from Acme,one from Three Hills, and one from Linden, as well as one from Airdrie and two from Beiseker.

Prairie Christian Academy held their first ever football game at Wilson Fields on Tuesday, September 7th. The PCA Sabres Football Team, comprised of 25 high school players, took on the Didsbury Dragons. Although the Dragons came out ahead, 59-13, Assistant Coach Barry Buchanan comments, "Although the boys only had six practices, they played very well for their first game.
